Big Hunt
Tonight was the first time I’ve ever seen a line outside the Hunt. Great beer list aside (and they were pretty much out of the Michigan beers at that point) there are better, more interesting places you can go in DC.

Seems like there are still way too many Great Lakes options on tap at the Hunt.  Or they need to update the tap list.

“We were going to sell $4 Natty Boh”
– Eric Hilton on the original concept for The Gibson.  So many interesting things about this statement. From WaPo.

Velvet Lounge. $2 Natty Boh cans. Super crowded and too dark for a picture. But cheap nonetheless.

Correction: Five Great Lakes on tap. I get it. One for each lake.

Dear Big Hunt, I realize Great Lakes is new in town, but 4 Great Lakes beers on tap seems like 3 too many. Love, John.

Pizzeria Paradiso - Dupont
The usual half price draft happy hour with a solid list of options.  Had the Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA for $3 and a Ten Fidy for $4.  It’s good to have Great Lakes in DC.

Radius, Tonic, Red Derby
I blame the dearth of recent posts on my exam schedule, which turned me into a recluse for most of the last month.  Now that I am on vacation, I was able to get out for some cheap beers. First stop was Radius pizza in Mt. Pleasant.  It was my first time there, and I really liked the feel of the place.  They run a $5 pint and slice special from 5-7 on weekdays and during every NFL game.  Pretty...

Toledo Lounge
Terrific happy hour: $2 Yeungling, $3 Two Hearted.  Lasts until 9 PM.  Plus the soothing orange/red glow makes it feel like a you’re back in the womb.  A womb full of beer.

Atomic Billiards
I’m pretty sure Atomic and the Uptown are the only reasons to go to make Cleveland Park a destination.  $3 PBR cans on Saturday night a is solid enough deal, though it is the only cheap beer option. Two Hearted on tap is $6, which is unsurprising.  Overall, always a good time, especially when you keep patient and wait for one of the two dart boards open up.

Weekly trip to Paradiso.
It’s been a pretty slow week for cheap beer drinking.  We returned to Paradiso tonight to enjoy the 1/2 price happy hour once again.  I had a Moylan’s Hopsickle for $3.50 and my compatriot chose the new Sierra/Dogfish collaboration called Limb & Life for $3.  Mine was quite tasty.  He said his was unremarkable, and he passed up a rare chance to enjoy the Palo Santo Marron on tap. ...

Ventnor Sports Cafe
We went for game one of the World Series.  This is a fine place to watch a sporting event (especially if you are a Phillies fan).  It’s a less than fine place to find a cheap beer.  PBR bottles for $3.50 plus tax, Yeungling drafts (cleverly called Philly Lagers on the receipt) for $4 plus tax.  Thus the PBR barely qualifies as cheap.  They have some good beer available, including Two Hearted...

Scientific Evidence of Spendy Beer →
According to this article, the nationwide average for a domestic draft at a casual dining establishment is $3.72.  In DC it is $4.13, just 2¢ less than in NY.  Has anyone ever felt like they got their money’s worth after paying $4.13 for a Miller Lite? Tip o’ the hat to Jake for this link.
